HOW LONG DOES DELIVERY TAKE?Delivery times are broken into four main sections:
1. DELIVERY TIMES WITHIN AUSTRALIA via AUSTRALIA POST Orders are usually dispatched the next business day - in some cases orders can be dispatched on the same day if placed early enough. Occasionally if a product is out of stock or on backorder, dispatch may take a couple of extra days. 3. INTERNATIONAL DELIVERY TIMES As with domestic deliveries, international orders are usually dispatched the next business day (except on weekends and Victorian public holidays) - In some cases orders can be dispatched on the same day. Occasionally if a product is out of stock or on backorder (or with some food items), dispatch may take a couple of extra days. If your order is going to take more than a week to dispatch we will contact you via email asap to let you know. After dispatch, delivery times vary greatly, depending on the destination country. Most are between 7-14 working days, but for some countries deliveries can take up to 28 days. The variation in delivery times is based on two criteria - they are: 1) Efficiency of the local postal system - Deliveries to some countries can be as quick as four days, whilst to other countries e.g. in South America, Africa and the Middle East, delivery will take 2-3 weeks almost every time. 2) Likelihood of it being inspected by customs - The likelihood of a package from Australia being held in customs is, for some countries - never, and for other countries almost always. Countries vary in how long their customs agents hold orders. UNDERSTANDABLY, THESE GUIDELINES APPLY FOR PARCELS THAT CONTAIN FOOD ITEMS.
USA & SCANDINAVIA (5/5 Rating) Orders to the United States and Scandinavian countries arrive at their destination quicker than anywhere in the world, usually 5-8 days after dispatch. (Longer times for smaller towns) Their Postal systems are the fastest and our experience to date indicates that they almost never hold Australian packages up in customs. While 1 out of 1000 orders may be stopped at US customs, orders to Scandinavia have a 1 out 100 chance of getting held up. If an order is held up at customs, it can be held up for an extra 3-10 working days.
UK, IRELAND & WESTERN EUROPE (4/5 Rating) Orders to these countries are usually take between 5-8 working days and if there is a hold up in customs it is usually only for an extra day or two.
JAPAN & HONG KONG (4/5 Rating) Orders to these countries are usually take between 3-5 working days and rarely are there any problems with customs.
GERMANY & HOLLAND (3/5 Rating) Although these countries have efficient postal systems, our packages get held up in customs 40% of the time. Orders to these countries will always be either 5-8 days (not held up) or 2-3 weeks (if held up). PLEASE BE AWARE THESE COUNTRIES WILL DELIVER A NOTE INFORMING YOU THAT PACKAGE NEEDS TO BE PICKED FROM THE POST OFFICE - IF IT IS NOT CLAIMED WITHIN 4-5 DAYS, THEY SENT BACK TO AUSTRALIA. We strongly recommend that if customers in Germany have not received their package within two weeks, they should go to their Postamt - there parcels may already be awaiting pick up.
CHINA & KOREA (2/5 Rating) 90% of deliveries made to China and take around 2-3 weeks.
JAMAICA, BAHAMAS, BERMUDA, AFRICA, SOUTH AMERICA (1/5 Rating) Orders here take between 3-6 weeks to arrive, so please be prepared for a bit of a wait. It may take a long time, but the orders do eventually arrive. Rarely will custom officers open orders -delivery times are just slower than other countries.
CANADA (0/5 Rating) The postal service in Canada seems to be the slowest in the world, when it comes to receiving parcels from Australia. Most orders seem to take around 4 weeks and there seems to be no consistency in how long it can get held up in customs. Canadian custom officers also seem to prone to ripping open Australian parcels and resealing them with very little care - we therefore recommend against purchasing gift wrap options.
MIDDLE EAST (1/5 Rating) In the Middle East we have delivered to Afghanistan (courtesy of the ADF), Israel, Egypt, Lebanon and Turkey and because we have not had feedback we can only assume that orders have arrived within the 5-14 days indicated.
SOUTH AMERICA (1/5 Rating) We have delivered all over South America with the only feedback coming from orders sent to Peru, Venezuela and Mexico, all of whom were very happy that they received their orders in 3 weeks (a feat for these countries).
AFRICA (1/5 Rating)
4. DELIVERY TIME FOR FLOWERS - WITHIN & OUTSIDE OF AUSTRALIA Next working day delivery within Australia from Monday to Friday is possible as long as the order is placed before midday AEST. There are areas in some countries (including Australia) that are classified as restricted delivery areas. Deliveries to these locations may take up to 48 hours or even longer in some situations. Delivery within Australia is not guaranteed on weekends or public holidays, so your order may arrive on the next working day. Flowers ordered through homesick.com.au for international delivery are usually available within 24-48 hours, but occasionally may be longer, depending on time zones and local conditions. Naturally, delivery service is subject to local conditions.
